Goal Management

Goal management is the systematic process of moving a department or organization forward by identifying objectives that are clear, aligned with the organizational mission and values, and that are actionable. Goal management necessarily involves:

  • Abandoning goals that are no longer relevant
  • Identifying and resolving conflicts among goals
  • Prioritizing goals consistently for optimal team collaboration and effective operations
  • Feasibility checks
  • Adjusting milestones and the main end goal state as required

Four Types of Organizational Goals

  • Consumer goals which are focused on supplying a product or product in response to market needs
  • Product goals which refer specifically to a product with unique or outstanding attributes in terms of reliability, novelty, quality, or reliability
  • Operational goals which refer to the management, technology, resources, and infrastructure required to run the organization
  • Secondary goals which are not considered an immediate priority for the organization

Performance Management
A key aspect of organizational goal management is ensuring that individual employee goals and objectives are aligned with the vision and strategic goals of the overall organization. As such, goal management must include an overall performance management system that:

  • Provides meaningful, relevant employee performance evaluations that helps them to understand their strengths and weakness and performance against specific goals
  • Facilitates clear, regular communication between managers and employees so that they understand how their efforts directly contribute to the success of the organization
  • Aligns employee goals with corporate goals

Automating the Process
Web-based systems can automate every aspect of the employee evaluation and appraisal process within an organization including getting the right documents to the right people at the right time. Effective web-based systems can be up and running in a matter of days and acclimatize to an organization quickly with a simple, intuitive user interface. Desirable characteristics of a web-based system also include the ability to support:

  • Various types of employee evaluations - focal, anniversary, interim, and probationary
  • Multiple appraisal and evaluation processes at the same time
  • Complex scoring and weighting
